Alfred Kahlstorf picks up leaves along Ashland Avenue on Monday morning and loading them in his truck. He uses them to put on his garden year round. This is his first load of the season. Last year he took home about 22 or 23 loads. But he thinks he might be too busy this year to pick up that much. He asks property owners for permission some times. "I've asked them if they care if I take them, and they say 'Help yourself,'" he said and laughs. His garden is about an acre, and he will use the leaves all through next Summer.
